Leadership SuperPowers™ in Action: Directive SuperPowers™
When do you like to be told what to do?
In times of crisis, I want an expert to tell me what they know. I may not like their answer or the way they say it, but I want to hear it so that I can make the best choice for me, my family, my team and my business.
Oftentimes we experience experts as having Directive SuperPowers™. If you have Directive SuperPowers™ you’re likely:
- Most effective in times of chaos or crisis, such as in a pandemic, a company turnaround, or system failures.
- Typically called in to help take control of challenges when most else has failed.
- Happier in a more process-driven or regulated environment.
On the other hand, when Directive SuperPowers™ are overused, people can start to feel disregarded.
When this happens, not only are employees disengaged, it puts a higher workload on the overly directive leader. In our experience, we most often see the need to stop the overuse of directive leadership when making the jump from being a director to becoming a vice-president or higher.
You may need more Directive SuperPowers™ if you:
- Have a hard time getting the attention of your leader/ideal client.
- Say “yes” when you really want to say “no” (leveling with your leader/ideal client).
- Overly socialize and forget what you need for yourself and your team to be successful.
For the past few months, we went through each of the Six Leadership SuperPowers™. We believe that the best leaders know when to embody each one of the Leadership SuperPowers™ to most positively impact our world.
If you’re ready to see your culture thrive, make sure you know your team’s strengths (Leadership SuperPowers™). You and your team can take our comprehensive Leadership SuperPowers™ assessment on us today.
