You know how most successful companies understand their Customer’s Experience?

Check out this short story and see how it might relate to you:

Recently, at The Florida Staffing Association Summit, my “How to make Every Day Friday for your Customers” breakout session was running at the same time as, “How to use Social Media“. Guess which one was most popular with the 100 or so attendees present?

You probably guessed it. Not mine!

Let me take a step back for a moment. You see as a recovering introvert, before the conference started, I decided that this was an opportunity to get to know new people who were likely eager to share their own stories. So, I put aside my agenda and decided to listen deeply to each person in front of me.

As I walked into the conference, I said a little prayer and asked for guidance on where to sit. I ended up sitting at a table filled with Super Leaders! We shared about our work aspirations and our passions. We bonded very quickly. In fact, two of my morning tablemates came to my afternoon breakout!

During my breakout, a problem began to mix together in the back of my mind along with my attendance disappointment (like a cheap gin and tonic) how do I present this material with such a wide range of people in the room? There were:

  • 20+ year industry veterans
  • People who began their job recently AND
  • Two kids who appeared to just graduate high school!

Regardless of their background, I began to hear what they ALL really wanted:

  • Time at work to run SMOOTHLY
  • To have FUN with their work teams AND
  • Come HOME feeling FULFILLED.

The session became more interactive and intimate than I anticipated. Each person walked away with at least one thing they could do that day to meet their business goals!

You know what else happened?

One of the most experienced and respected industry veterans, told her board that I should be the keynote at their next event AND she even recommended my consulting services to one of her clients!

Out of the 100 people that attended the entire event the one person who was my Best Customer participated in my little breakout session.

Now what about YOU?

Maybe you’re losing sight of your Best Customer(s) because:

  • Your Investment company (or BOD) is breathing down your back for EBITA and you’re not sure how to push aside that stress and listen deeply to what your Best Customers / your Best Employees are REALLY saying
  • You feel like the middle person between your STAFF and your LEADER
  • You’re so busy working IN your Business that you’re losing sight of your Best Customers.

You see a lot of people do business by only listening to their own internal agenda. They are too focused on tasks. Others listen and serve which is what I call ;”>Transformational Listening.
